The Art of Gift Giving

It’s been a while since I blogged. In fact, the last time I blogged, I was dealing with a bad breakup and was behaving like an emo teenager (I even got a tattoo and dyed my hair dark brown which, you know, is essentially going goth!!) I had to delete those posts! So embarrassing!

But since it’s finals time, that means two things:

  1. I would rather do ANYTHING over actually studying; and
  2. the holidays are quickly approaching!

I love the holidays because I love getting people gifts. I consider it a challenge. I think about it all year long, making mental notes whenever somebody tells me a story that can be turned into something tangible that I can wrap with a bow. I think people genuinely love the gifts I get them and this makes me so happy because it is one of the few things I can do well. I even have a gift giving recipe: one part inside joke, one part sappy, and one part something they would never buy for their self.

This gift will be perfect!

I think perhaps this gift-giving love has stemmed from being on the receiving end of some pretty bad gifts. Read the rest of this entry »
